A Guest for the Night
You can see an exclusive itinerary along the Jewish history of Buchach made on the basis of books “A Guest for the Night” and a “Simple Story” authored by a Buchach-born Nobel Prize laureate in literature Shmuel Yosef Agnon. The excursion is a nice opportunity to see Jewish Buchach partially lost during the First World War and eventually erased by the Second World War.
At the same time, the excursion offers a good opportunity to see the preserved sites related to Jewish heritage of Buchach. The route will take us to the twenty stations related to the life of Jewish community of Buchach and Agnon’s personal life story and descriptions from his books. The excursion is an originally designed and accompanied by Mariana Maksymiak, a program director of the Agnon Literary Center.
A Mysterious Master
A literary trip “A Mysterious Master” is an attempt to reproduce the most important route related to the life and artistic heritage of Johann Georg Pinzel who used to live and create his works in Buchach in the middle of the 18thcentury. During a literary trip, you will hear a version of a legendary artist’s biography intertwined into the quotations from modern Ukrainian literature touching upon the topic of Pinzel.
The excursion includes excerpts from texts of novels of Yevhenia Kononenko (“A Victim of a Forgotten Master”), Volodymyr Yeshkilev (“Escape of a Master Pinzel”), Halyna Vdovychenko (“Other Semi-Apple”), Sofia Andrukhovych (Amadoka). The excursion has been originally designed and accompanied by Mariana Maksymiak, a program director of the Agnon Literary Center.
